If you’ve been part of the OSS family for awhile then you know we did a blog series in 2019 where we highlighted our team members on their OSS anniversaries. We are continuing on that tradition for all of our teammates when they celebrate their first OSS anniversary…and today, Maria is celebrating ONE YEAR with OSS!
Maria joined our clinic team in May 2020 after finishing a college rotation in our office. We knew Maria would be a great fit with her thirst for knowledge and her clinical skills. Maria graduated from IUFW with a certificate in Dental Assisting in 2020. She has continued on with her education and received a Bachelor of Science in Dental Technology-Dental Clinician degree in June 2021 from IUFW.
Talk about hard working! She would work all day in the office, attend classes in the evening until 9:00, have an hour drive back home to Warsaw and then have to be back to work at 7:30 the next morning. That doesn’t even include sneaking in homework! (She’s even been seen proofreading papers on her laptop during lunch.) Maria also went on to become our office’s certified Spanish translator.
Maria loves going to the gym. She said she doesn’t do any cardio, but she just “lifts heavy! Ha!”. She also took 4 years of piano and said she’s “basically like Beethoven”. [As you can tell she has a great sense of humor!] She enjoys doing make-up and spending time with her large family. She has 5 brothers and 2 sisters!! She’s the second youngest in her family and the first to go to college. She currently lives with her brother in Warsaw and loves spending time with their sweet dog, Abby.
Maria said when she was growing up she did not like her teeth and was very insecure about her smile. After she got her braces off she felt like her life completely changed, so she quickly became interested in going into the dental field. She said she knows that braces can really impact and change a person’s life, so she loves her job and being able to inspire genuine smiles. Fun Fact: Maria is a shining example of a beautiful OSS smile. She was a patient at our office when she was in high school.
Maria is such a great addition to our team. She’s inquisitive, dedicated and hard working. We are so grateful to have her as part of the OSS family! Biggest congrats, Maria, on celebrating your first anniversary with OSS! Here’s to many, many more!
