June 2nd was the American Association of Orthodontics Staff Appreciation Day, but we want to take an entire month to celebrate our team! Today we are highlighting our Front Desk Team.
Our front desk team is the first voice that new patients get to hear on the phone and the first face that new patients get to meet. They must be great at multi-tasking, all day long.
The Front Desk Team is typically the first team to arrive and the last to leave at the end of the day. They make sure the doors are unlocked, all lights are on and just the opposite when leaving. Each morning they start out by checking the voicemail for any messages that were left afterhours. They are responsible for answering all incoming calls, checking email and text messages throughout the day. They also take over-the-phone and in-office payments.
The front desk makes sure new patient insurance information has been collected and given to the insurance department to verify benefits, send all letters and paperwork for upcoming consultations, call the general dentist to get recently taken x-rays and any other information the referring dentist believes would be beneficial to give to Dr. Aron for diagnosis and treatment planning. When our office refers out for procedures the front desk helps schedule those patients and coordinate their appointments.
The front desk checks-in patients, and they take temperatures of everyone who arrives in the office. The front desk also checks-out the patients when their appointments are over and schedules the next visit.
Now let’s get to know the individual people that make up our Front Desk Team.
Anne Marie
Team member since 1988. Anne Marie primarily works at out Dupont Road location and loves having interaction with the patients and parents.
Becca
Team member since 2015. When Becca was hired she was simultaneously trained in the clinic and at the front desk, so you will see Becca working in both areas. Becca works front desk at both our Warsaw and Dupont Road locations.
Bev
Team member since 1997. Bev started her career with OSS as a clinic tech, but has since transitioned into a front desk role primarily at our Warsaw office. Her favorite thing about working at OSS is connecting with our patients and parents and having the opportunity to watch them transform with more confidence and an improved smile.
Kristine
Team member since 2019. Kristine worked at our office from 2013-2017 as a clinic tech. She took a couple years off to be a stay at home mom and then returned to our office in 2019 as part of the front desk on Fridays. Kristine also has the task of being our HIPAA aficionado; which happens to be her favorite part of her job! She says it has been interesting to see all of the policies and procedures that need to be in place for an office to be HIPAA compliant. She also loves working on Fridays with the Friday crew and helping catch up on projects, paperwork or recalls.
Lindsey
Team member since 2006. Lindsey started her career at OSS as a clinic tech, but has transitioned primarily to working at the front desk. She still keeps her clinic skills in tact by doing emergency appointments at our Dupont Road location. Her favorite task as a front desk team member is scheduling upcoming appointments.
Lisa
Team member since 1995. [FUN FACT: Lisa worked as a member of the front desk team from 1989-1991 and then returned in 1995.] Lisa works as a member of the front desk team at both of our locations. Lisa also has the unofficial title of “social chairman”, so it’s easy to guess that her favorite part of her job is chatting and getting to know our patients and their families and having the pleasure of building genuine friendships with them
MaeKenzie
Team member since 2021. MaeKenzie just recently joined our team in May 2021. You will see her at both our Dupont Road and Warsaw locations. She said the favorite part of her job is greeting patients and the relationships she is building with our team.
Susan
Team member since 2018. Susan primarily works at our Dupont Road location. You will see Susan’s face later on in the week; as she is also a member of our Treatment Coordinator Team.
Talisha
Team member since 1991. Talisha primarily works at our Dupont Road location, but if you’ve ever popped into the Warsaw office on a Wednesday then you likely have seen her there as well. Talisha said her favorite part about working at the front desk is seeing how excited the kiddos are to show her what color they picked when they first get their braces on. You’ll see Talisha’s photo at least 2 more times this month because she is one of our team members who wears many, many hats!
Tami
Team member since 1981, Yes, you read that correctly! Tami will be celebrating 40 YEARS with OSS this year! Tami works at both of our locations regularly so you’ve likely had the pleasure of meeting her. Tami does a little bit of everything in the office, so you’re sure to see her face again in future posts this month!
One of the most important roles of our Front Desk Team is being warm and welcoming to each person who enters the building. They are sure to greet you with a smile and are happy to make you a cup of coffee or tea or grab you a bottle of water.
