Today we are celebrating Whendy’s 28th anniversary with OSS!
Whendy graduated from the IPFW Dental Assisting program and immediately started her career with OSS in 1984…[Yes, you read that correctly! She started with OSS 35 YEARS ago]…working as a Clinic Tech with Dr. Gene. She worked with OSS until 1990 and then took a short sabbatical and rejoined our team in 1991.
She continued to work as a clinic tech for a few more years, but at that time all clinical examination gloves were made of latex and she developed a latex allergy. Whendy was such a vital team member that she was transferred to the lab. [At that time lab techs did not wear gloves, masks or safety glasses. <<< In her own words, “I know, how gross!”] Whendy is now our Lab Team Leader, and is crazy talented! We’re certain she could weld expanders and bend wires with her eyes closed! She is very instrumental in helping Dr. Aron design and make custom appliances for many of our difficult cases.
Now let’s share some fun facts about Whendy:
• Whendy spent many years as part of the pit crew when Dr. Aron raced go-karts in the 3 Rivers Festival.
• Whendy started as a patient with Dr. Gene when she was only 5 years old with a partial cleft palate, and she didn’t complete her ortho transformation until she was 18 years old.
• She’s one of four team members who have taken a sabbatical and then returned to working at our office.
•She shares her OSS anniversary AND her birthday with other teammates.
•She attended the Dental Assisting Program with our teammate, Sandi. [You’ll get to see Sandi’s graduation pic in May!]
•She’s a dog mom to 3 LARGE dogs and a wife of 30 years to her husband, Dan!
•Until recently, Whendy was an avid motorcyclist. Some days, she even rode her bike to work.
We love Whendy’s sense of humor and her laugh! She’s such an amazing teammate and we are so thankful and blessed to have her as part of our team!
